Wishing You Ten Gallons of Fun- The Paper Shelter Challenge

Can't believe we are at the end of August already...  seems like summer just began... I do love the Fall, however, NOT what follows it!!  Enough whining! Today begins another challenge at The Paper Shelter.  This week's challenge is LOTS OF LAYERS. How fabulous this challenge can be when you purchase The Paper Shelter digi images as many of the images come with coordinating design paper, or have other matching digital paper available for purchase!
Some GREAT news is that now The Paper Shelter  is awarding a $30 prize voucher  to a challenge winner who uses a  Paper Shelter image on their project.  You can still enter with ANY IMAGE you choose, and if you use another image, you can still win 3 Paper Shelter images of your choice!
For this week's Lots Of Layers Challenge, I selected this fun image called "Little Cowboy".  I haven't created a card for a little boy in a while so this was fun image to color.    I also used two dp's from the "Little Cowboy" paper pack so that getting the layers all matched up was easy as pie!  As you know, The Paper Shelter images come colored for a fast project AND in digi format so you can color, merge and design as  you please. While I am planning to buy a color laser printer very soon, just know this paper was printed on my inkjet printer using HP Brochure paper.
My "Little Cowboy" was colored with lots of copics (see below).  The cardstock is from Bazzill and the raffia is from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The stars were cut with a paper punch out of extra dp that I printed out.  Last, the sentiment is computer generated.. I downloaded a free font from Dafont called "Bleeding Cowboys" and combined it with a quote I "googled" on the internet. The edges of the sentiment and stars were distressed with "Brushed Corduroy" distress ink.  His pop-guns, belt buckle and bandana also got a coat of Stickles.  Even my cowboys have to show some "bling"!
Copics: YG 99, 97, 95 & 93
R39, 29, 27, 24 & 20
B09, 96, 94, 02, 00
YG 09, 27, 24, 23, 21, E35
W9,7,5,3 &0

Please hop over to see what our DESIGN TEAM has created to inspire you!  This card, along with others I created, is now available in my ETSY shop (sold).  Thank you, as always, for your kind comments.

"Serenity"

Happy Sunday... hope you are enjoying the summer as it slowly winds down.... Once again, today begins another fun challenge at STAMPTACULAR SUNDAYS.  Our theme this week is ROSES AND RIBBONS!  Sounds like a fun challenge that is sure to elicit some beautiful projects!  For this week's challenge you will create a card or project that incorporates both roses and ribbons in your final creation.  Easy as pie.. and, don't forget to stamp! That's why we are called "STAMPtacular Sundays!"  Our sponsor this week is MARIANNE DESIGNS.
You will have from now until midnight (EST) September 1st to complete this challenge and post a DIRECT LINK to your submission into our InLinkz in order to be entered into the drawing for this week's fabulous prize. Three entries will also be awarded our "Top 3" Badge as well.
For my project, I selected a rubber stamp I just purchased called "Serenity" by Concetta Kilmer for Sweet Pea stamps.  Serenity is colored with copics (E35, 25, 29, 51, 50 hair/B02, 000, C7 eyes and E000, 00, 21, 11 skin, RV's/spica pens lips and Y26 for frame around her) and embellished with Spica pens and some Smooch.

I stamped the image on Make it Colour copic cardstock. I so love this paper.  I did use a new glue pen and found that it made some of my hair color get a bit blotchy, but it was the glue and not the paper. This paper is a dream to color on without staying "wet" and making colors smear.
I used Spellbinder dies (Oval and Floral Oval) to cut out the image and the black decorative oval behind her.  The design paper is a digi paper collection (Forest Fairy 6x6) I have used before, but not this one page, available at Crafts and Me.  The rich blue, black and purple colors seemed to fit and offset the image.  The cheesecloth, once again, was lightly spritzed with Dylusions Sprays in Crushed Grape, but I managed to keep some "white area" that I glittered with Deco Art Glamour Dust.  I added two chipboard butterflies that I colored with Distress Markers and Stickles, then applied a crystal on each. Flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and that beautiful black lace, ( ahem...ribbon hehe) has clear crystals on each scallop (it came that way) that continue to add some sparkle to me image.  The lace was a gift so I don't know where it comes from...Last chalk and stormy sky distress ink are sponged around the image.

We look forward to seeing your submissions in this week's STAMPTACULAR SUNDAYS challenge.. now hop over to see what the DESIGN TEAM has created to inspire you!  If you would like to purchase this or any of my cards, they are available in my online ETSY. store. As always, thank you for your kind comments.

"Let's Hear It For The Girls" - Stamptacular Sundays Challenge

Hope you are having a great weekend!  Today begins another fun challenge at Stamptacular Sundays...our theme this week is "Let's Hear it For the Girls" - I say "amen" to that!  The women I meet in my personal life and in blogland never cease to amaze me with their energy, creativity, strength and compassion so this challenge is dedicated to all the wonderful women in my life who I am so blessed to know and love!
You can interpret this theme any way you want.. just don't forget to stamp!  You will have from now until midnight August 25th (EST) to complete this challenge and post your submission into our InLinkz in order to be entered into the drawing for this week's fabulous prize donated by:

For my card, I selected another digi image by Hannah Lynn called "Janessa".  These images are among my favorites to color because they are so beautiful and soulful.  They also continue to challenge me with my favorite medium, copics, and help me grow in experimenting with color choice and technique.  I want to thank Alyce (Kit and Clowder) for recommending a paper change for my copics. This image was colored on Make it Colour cardstock and yes, it is not sold in the USA so shipping is expensive, but if you can order it with someone and share a package, it is so worth it.  For those of us who were having some issues with our E's blotching on the paper, this may be a solution. While I have not abandoned my Cryrogen White or Xpress it cardstock, this paper has eliminated the problem and is fast becoming my favorite.
"Janessa" is colored with copics (colors below).  The design paper, once again, is DCWV "Stardust". This sheet of design paper has gold stars embossed in it so it helped create the night sky I wanted. The coordinating gold dp has images of the sun embossed on it also.  I added small gold flatback pearls to the center of some of those stars. The lace and cheesecloth was spritzed with Ranger Perfect Pearls Sunflower Sparkle and Gold Glamour Dust.
     Hair: E29, 25, 23, 31 and 50
Skin: E000, 00, 13, 11
Dress: RV69, R59, 85, 83, 81
Cape/Moon: Y26, Y11, Y00 and Flourescent Yellow
Eyes: BG10, B21 and white sharpee marker

The flowers and metal corner embellishment are from Wild Orchid Crafts. Pearls from Recollections Bling on a Roll and button from Joanns.  We hope you will join us this week for this challenge... if you need a little inspiration, hop over to see what our Design Team has created.  Thanks always for your kind comments.  Have a great week!

"Oh, The Places You'll Go" - Paper Shelter Challenge

Happy Wednesday! Today begins another great challenge at The Paper Shelter. This week's challenge is CLEAN AND SIMPLE.  Now if you think that "shaped cards" was difficult for me, guess again.. my cards are never clean and simple but I did give it my best!

The Paper Shelter offers such awesome prizes to challenge winners - this week Veronica and Pedro are offering you a prize of $20 Gift Certificate to spend on their website, as long as you have used one of  The Paper Shelter images on your card, but even if you use another image, you can win 3 digi images of your choice!

For this challenge I selected "Learning is Fun".  I thought it fitting to choose her as returning to the classroom is just a couple of weeks away and I find myself already beginning to think about the upcoming school year..(deep breath...)
She is so adorable.. I love everything about her including those cool glasses. She is colored with copic markers and embellished with stickles, glamour dust and some glossy accents on her eyeglass lenses.  What I especially love about THE PAPER SHELTER images is that many of them include the colored image (for a quick card or project), the digi image (for you to color any way you want) and some great design paper!  So, I worked very closely with the colors on the already colored version and recreated it with my copic markers on the digi. I also stuck to this color scheme because I wanted to use the design paper that comes with the image.  This one sheet is not sold separately but comes already coordinated with the digi image!  How cool is that?  The dp looks just like it came from a school girl's notebook - full of doodles, math, writing and even some messy stains (bottom left corner)!
The sentiment is from the internet.. I knew I wanted to use this phrase from the Dr. Seuss book (Oh, The Places You'll Go), and when I googled it, there it was with the background color perfectly coordinated with my colors! Flowers are from WOC and lovely ribbon, glitter buttons, and crystals from my stash.
Now won't you hop over to The Paper Shelter blog to see what new images Veronica and Pedro just added to the store, and then join us for a fun challenge. Why not see what the DESIGN TEAM has created to inspire you to enter! Have a great day and thank you for your kind comments!

Shape it Up- Stamptacular Sundays Challenge

I'm baaaaack!!  Seems like forever since I posted a card.  Migraines sidelined me last week.. with this crazy weather we are having here in the Northeast, no wonder I had headaches.... oppressive humidity, thunderstorms, even a small tornado passing through on Friday! But.. it is Sunday and that means another fun STAMPTACULAR SUNDAYS CHALLENGE.
Now, our challenge this week at STAMPTACULAR SUNDAYS is "SHAPE IT UP."  You must create a card with a unique shape.  No squares or rectangles allowed!  You will have from now until midnight, August 18th (EST) to complete this challenge and post a DIRECT LINK to your submission into our InLinkz in order to be entered into the drawing for this week's fabulous prize donated by:

.... I must admit I took a deep breath when I read the challenge because I am a square card girl and any time I have to create something that is not square, I panic...but that is the cool thing about challenges.. they sometimes force you into territory you would not ordinarily (aka willingly) go.  This time, I am pleased with the result, even though it is "squar-ish"!  For my card I chose a new Christmas/Winter image by Lili of the Valley called "Winter Fairy".  She is colored with various shades of blue copic markers.

The card base is a white Vintage Step Card from the "For Your Inspiration" collection of gorgeous card bases by Which Craft? (UK).  There are so many lovely designs to choose from and the gallery of cards alone is worth the hop over.  I covered the base of the card with some older Christmas dp that I made sure to buy lots of a year or more ago.  It is Bo Bunny's Snowy Serenade-Limited Edition Glitter paper.  I just love the snowflakes embossed on this paper- you can see the design best along the left side of the card.

The overlays (that come with the card base) were painted with Tim Holtz Pearl Paint Dabber and then glitttered with Martha Stewart Snow glitter and flakes.  After I colored her,  I added Diamond Stickles to her wings and on the "fur" on her skirt.  Finally, I added Bling on a Roll pearls, a strip of white rose organza ribbon, a heart button from my stash and Wild Orchid Crafts flowers as embellisments.  The sentiment is also from Lili of the Valley-  I used Stormy Sky distress ink to stamp the sentiment and to distress the edges of the design paper.
Thank you so much for stopping by, and also for your kind comments.  Now, won't you  hop over to the Stamptacular Sundays Challenge blog and see what unique shaped projects our Design Team has created to inspire you!  Have a great day!
