So long Google Reader- Hello Bloglovin...

Happy Sunday...thought I would post a little info about the change from Google Reader to Bloglovin along with some neat info for both bloggers and followers...

As we have been told, tomorrow Google Reader will go away. You can STILL add your email address on the right sidebar to my blog or any blog to follow via email but now you can follow ALL your blogs in ONE place on BLOGLOVIN.  I have linked many of my blogs to this site for awhile now and I must say I like it. I get one email with a long list of the wonderful blogs I am following with a thumbnail pic of the latest post related to that blog. With one click, I can visit the blog or open the image and enjoy each post!
For those of you who would like to continue to FOLLOW ME, you can click on the "FOLLOW ME WITH BLOGLOVIN" button on the right under "FOLLOWERS" and continue to receive my posts the same way as you did through Google Reader, or you can add your email address.  I thank you for continuing to follow me in blogland with your kind comments and support!
Now, for my blogging buddies, if you want a quick and short resource for how to add or "claim" your blog and add the widgets to your sidebar, I found this resource quick and easy:

And here is another great resource with pictures and a step-by-step guide:

Since I already had a Bloglovin account, all I had to do was "claim" the blog and add a widget with the code I got after I claimed my blog.  Took about a minute to do!  You can also link to your facebook page when done - one click- and whenever you publish a post, it will automatically post to facebook. How cool is that?
Last, and VERY COOL, for you "tech saavy" folks, Bloglovin has an app for iOS (and may have an android app as I write this) and you can view your favorite blogs on the web and mobile apps- such as your iphone, android phone and ipad... Also, it is all FREE of charge!
I am sure the transition will be an easy one as I have noticed so many have switched to Bloglovin already, but I just wanted to send a quick post to all to make sure you continue to get all your favorite blogs after the change tomorrow.
    Have a great day!

Big Hugs - Saturated Canary "Thank You"

Happy Sunday. For my card today, I selected "Thank You" - she, of course, is colored with some muted ones of copic markers.
The design paper is Authentique's "Remembrance".  I love the deep aubergine color against the yellow/greens and sepias- a fun paper pad to work with.  I added some pink and white Frantage, crochet lace, metal corner (Live and Love Crafts),die cuts and flowers in both the aubergine and green/sepia available at Wild Orchid Crafts. The velvet ribbon is from The Ribbon Girls. The "grass" is a combination of copic markers over an actual rubber stamp that I pressed into two different TH green inkpads (Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint).  I sponged Pebbles Iridescent chalks around the image to make a sky using my "cloud" template here and there.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  Have a great day, and thank you for your kind comments.

"Rose" - Crafts and Me "Vintage" Challenge

Hi and Happy Wednesday to all of you.  It is my turn to host this week's Crafts and Me Challenge.  Our theme this week is "VINTAGE". You can interpret that theme anyway you choose, whether you use a vintage image, vintage design paper, distressing your creation with inks or tools, or even including those fabulous vintage embellishments and die cuts....go for it!   You will have from now until Tuesday, June 18th to enter your creations HERE.
I have been having a lot of fun working with the new "Vintage Photo Images" from Crafts and Me. Teresa has them available in BOTH rubber and digi format. The last three cards I created featured the digi images. Again, I printed my image out on the new Stamping Linen that Teresa will have in stock soon.  It feeds into my inkjet printer just like paper and voila!  The backing on the linen allows it to be cut right on my paper cutter- no special scissors needed.  Of course, these images can be sized, flipped and even colorized differently in photo editing software. I love them just the way they are- easy when you want to make a vintage or shabby chic card in a hurry- just print on paper or linen and embellish away!
For my card, I selected "Rose".  I just love the deep green in her dress and part of the background mirror.  I added a bit of Stickles to her hairband and a few roses.   I just love the frame behind her... all part of the image!  Looks layered, doesn't it?  That is the high quality of the photo image.
The design paper is from Pion "Lily of the Valley" from the Fairytale of Spring Collection. The pearls on a wire and bronze corner are from Live and Love Crafts. Lace and velvet ribbon are from The Ribbon Girls.  The flower "cameo" is from Recollections... I could not believe how perfectly it matched the roses in the image. Flowers are from WOC and Recollections.
    Here is a close up:

And I could not end without thanking Carla for introducing me to Create with TLC... I just love their digi sentiments. I am also a fan of angels and fairies and this image reminded me of an angel looking down over me.  How wonderful to find a sentiment to match what I hope to convey.  This sentiment comes from the  Art Fire "Guardian Angel Set" - a collection of five separate sentiments.  All edges of paper and sentiment distressed with Brushed Courduroy distress ink.
Please stop by to the challenge blog to see what the Dynamite Digi team has created to inspire you!  We hope to see your vintage creations this week!  Have a great day and thank you for your kind comments.

"A Creative Romance" Launches Its First Challenge & Candy Winners

Happy Friday! Today is the "big" day as our new challenge blog, A Creative Romance, is launched!  Yippee... I am so very excited to be part of this amazing design team, and what makes it so very special is that building this blog over the past couple of months was such a completely collaborative effort. Jenny and Becky have done an incredible job putting together our two teams- the "Chic Crafters" and the "Elegant Artisans".   I laugh as I type this as remember how funny it was trying to come up with names of teams!!
Each team will host a challenge every two weeks and the winners will receive fabulous prizes from our generous sponsors! We also have some surprise guests posting today to help give us an inspirational send off!  Our first challenge which begins today is ...
For my card, I selected an image that I purchased a while ago but never got to color up. She is a digi image by Pretty Little Stamps called "Pretty Mermaid."  She is stamped on Make it Colour blending cardstock and colored with copic markers.
The design paper is a new paper pad by DCWV called Art Collage Stack. I really like it as many of the papers look just like mixed media pages. I used some of the lighter colored papers as the image has such intense colors.  For some reason my photos do not do justice to the colors of the papers.. the background dp is full of pastels and the torn dp across the bottom is such a soft yellow- for some reason (maybe because I took the pics late at night) the paper colors are faded out.  I tried with and without lighting and still no help... Here is a better pic of the papers...
I distressed the edges of my cardstock, dp and image with the Zutter distress tool and Tattered Rose and Vintage Photo distress ink.  I tore the bottom of my layered cardstock and then distressed with ink for a worn look- same with the sentiment, which I also crinkled up.  I always go back to my older Just Rite stamp set and this one is from the Friendship sentiments.  The metal corner is once again "frantaged" with Antique Wine and gold glitter.  I added gesso to the cheesecloth and it helped stiffen it and give it a brighter white look. To the cheesecloth I attached star fish, gold seed beads and some red heart shaped glass beads. I ended with shabby seam binding and wooden heart from Live and Love Crafts. Last, I used a new stamp I just got from Our Daily Bread Designs that I just LOVE!! I thought I would use it  more on this image, but I only stamped it in the corners of the image. It is a large (4x5)"Fish Net" background stamp and I can't wait to use it again. If you click HERE, you can see the stamp and all the other ways it is used. As always, the flowers and heart pearls are from WOC.
You will have from now until June 20th to enter our "Anything Goes" challenge. We would just love to see your creations.  One lucky winner will receive a gift certificate from The Ribbon Girls! We will also be selecting our Top 3 to receive our "Paper Goddess" badge.
Let me end by saying that over the past few months, I have grown so close to this incredibly talented group of women who come from all parts of the world!  It is my sincere hope that visiting our blog and playing along in our challenges will give you the chance to get to know each and every one- I am sure, like me, you will most certainly recognize many of them!
Thank you so very much for becoming followers and cheering us on.  Why not hop over to the challenge blog to see what the "Chic Crafters" and our Guest Designers have created to inspire you! Mother Love- Crafts and Me Inspiration

Good Morning. I am afraid I am a little late with my post for today's Crafts and Me Inspiration blog... as with many of us, sometimes life gets in the way of meeting our craft deadlines, but one way or the other, we post!
Today, I am featuring another one of the beautiful "vintage" digi images from Crafts and Me.  As you know, Teresa just added them to the Crafts and Me store and they come in BOTH digi and rubber format.  You can find them HERE.  I also printed this image, once again, on the new "Stamping Linen" that Teresa will have in stock very soon.  I included a close up image below so you can see how flawlessly the image prints on this medium- not one detail is missing from the photo.  The linen is also fairly stiff so you can easily mat it and add modge podge or gesso- if you are planning a more mixed media project!
For my card, I selected "For You".  My mother's birthday is in a few weeks and I thought I would use these images to play with some ideas for cards for her.  I guess it will be a surprise as to which one she gets! She truly deserves all of them!
All the design papers are from Maja- I used only two sheets but since they are printed on both sides, I actually got four papers that all coordinated.. love that as coordinating design papers is always difficult for me.  The papers had a dark umber distress on the edges but when I cut it, I lost that so I added vintage photo and some weathered wood to match the edges already there.  I used a fairly new Sizzix frame die (love this die) and placed it sideways to frame my image  The cameo was attached to a large brass bezel that I got from  Suzanne Fuentes, HERE.  I plan to add pearls and other baubles and make my own blingy embellies after seeing a cool tutorial HERE on doing just that... It is a great way to use up those beads and pearls (even the ones that have holes in them)...I have so many more on my "Bling" Pinterest page if you want to also make your own stickpins and other blingy embellies...

The flowers are from WOC and the heart die cut is from Magnolia.  The cameo, shabby seam binding and white heart are from Live and Love Crafts. The sentiment was made using a small "alphabet" wood stamp set I found at Michael's. I must tell you that they have several sets in all different fonts and they are on clearance for only $1.50 a set- perfect for making your own vintage sentiments.  This is NOT my pic but one I found on another person's blog as she got many more sets in her store.. just wanted you to see what to look for in the clearance bin!  She actually got more fonts than I did but the font I used on my card is not in her pic!
Last, another cool tip is how I punched the edges of my sentiment die cut.  I found another Pinterest tip HERE  on my Pinterest Dies and Punches Board where you place one edge of your paper into the paper punch and then the other edge so you can punch paper longer than the punch allows.
Here is a close up to show you the fine detail in the stamping linen:
Well, I have ranted on more than I thought...I hope some of my suggestions inspire you.  Thank you for stopping by and always for taking the time to visit and leave a comment. I always try my best to get back to each one of you, and often in the process, I discover another blog that inspires me! Have a great day.
