Vintage Love- A Creative Romance Challenge

Happy Friday!  Wow, it seems like forever since I last posted for A Creative Romance Challenge!  My teammates are the absolute best having given me a bit of a break after the holidays and with trying to train a new puppy who has reminded me what sleep deprivation is all about- LOL!  It's all good and I am back on schedule!
The Chic Crafters have selected "Show us Some Love" as their theme for this two week challenge.  Projects can be a valentine theme, or a romantic card...just something that expresses love!  Easy, right?

For my card, I decided to work with a free vintage image that I have on my Vintage Photos Pinterest Board HERE.  I save the image to my desktop, open it with Photoshop, resize it and place it in an oval shape with the shape tool.  Last, I print the image on Stamping Linen by Joy Crafts with my color inkjet printer. I have used this product before so you can have a peek at other images printed on linen HERE and HERE.
The design paper is from a 12 inch distressed paper pad that I just love for its brown and deep burgundy shades.  It is by Heartfelt Creations and it is called Timeless Amour.  If you have time, check out the beautiful creations HERE made from this paper pad.. truly unique colors and textures- and it is double sided, too.  The edges of the dp are distressed with the Zutter tool and then inked up with Walnut Stain and Aged Mahogany.  The image is mounted on a Sizzix Ornate Oval Thinlits die.  The gorgeous lace border and pearl lace are from Live and Love Crafts. I honestly do not know where I got the brown silk rose or that gorgeous rhinestone button. It came in a set of about 6 buttons like it.  I rarely keep the things I buy in their original packages and so I just can't place it.  The metal shank cannot be cut off as it is a sturdy button, so I just glued it to the beautiful shabby rose.

I just loved this sentiment. It is computer generated and I found it online. I thought it matched the image perfectly! The sentiment is printed on one of a sheet of tags that come in the paper pad.  The word "LOVE" below also comes from the paper pad. I cut apart the letters, distressed with Walnut Stain and attached to the card. The little lock and key on the left of the image is from Melissa Frances.  The wooden clock embellishment is from Prima.

Why not hop over to see what the Chic Crafters created to inspire you.  We would LOVE to see your projects in this challenge.  We are sponsored by the Lovely Ribbon Girl with a lush voucher for one lucky winner.

Have a great day, and thank you for your kind comments!  This card is available for purchase in my ETSY Shop...

How perfect that the design team's "Anything Goes" challenge twist is "love" as I was asked several weeks ago to make a keepsake for the newly engaged daughter of a dear friend of my mother. She admired the card I made for another engagement using a Saturated Canary rubber stamp,  "Rebecca" . (You can see that post HERE.)  At first she wanted a similar card for her daughter, and then after talking with her, I suggested the 10 x 10 inch shadow box as I thought it would be so special to include some things from her own wedding (over 50 years ago) that were sentimental and would be better if encased. (I apologize if the pics seem a bit dark as I had to work with the distancing the lighting so it would not reflect off the glass of the shadow box.)
First, "Rebecca" is colored with copic markers using W5,3, 1 and 0 (and the colorless blender) and B23, 21, and 000. I added some Shabby White and Shabby Blue Frantage around her.  She is mounted on Spellbinder Oval die cuts.  The Polynesian sails Oval, Victorian Romance Flourish  and Dancing Doily Lace Border die are all from Cheery Lynn Designs.  The design papers, distressed with Brushed Corduroy ink, are from Maja Vintage Spring Basics.
The backdrop white cardstock is completely covered in lace.  What is special and touching about the lace is that all the lace used in this project is from the bride's mother's wedding gown - over 50 years old!  The  lace flowers around the image were also cut from the remaining bridal gown lace and I coiled some pearl on a string and glued it to the center after making each flower.  Additionally, the "blue flowers" were made using a tie that belonged to the bride's father. To make both the lace and blue flowers out of the fabric given to me, I used a Sizzix Circle Bigz die to cut three different size circles out each fabric and then hand sewed them into flowers (YouTube video tutorial HERE) with a few folds and tacking stitches.  For the flowers made from the blue tie fabric, I added Teardrop Pearl Centers.
Last, I added Glamour Dust, Pearl String, a fabric heart applique and a computer generated sentiment with the soon-to-be-married couple's names.  I love the font which I downloaded from DaFont called "Scriptina Pro". It made such a lovely sentiment!  I decided when taking the pictures of the shadow box to add the large leftover piece of lace as a backdrop.  It was truly my pleasure to make this special gift!
Now, don't forget to hop along through the blogs below and leave a comment!  Good Luck and thanks always for your kind comments!

"He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not" - Anything Goes Challenge at 7 Kids College Fund

Happy Wednesday. If you are like me, you are also drooling over all the new papers, tools and craft goodies being previewed at CHA.  So thankful all those who are there are sending us pictures and youtube videos of all the great products!  Can't wait to preorder so many of them...
At the 7 Kids College Fund Store, Tab has the new Spellbinder Dies and Tool n One   and at prices you will find hard to beat!  My personal favorite is the new Tool n One. I have linked a youtube clip to show you how cool it is- a must for anyone who uses intricate dies... Check it out!

Today also begins another great challenge at 7 Kids College Fund. As always, the challenge is "Anything Goes"
I thought once Christmas was over, that I would not being seeing "red" anywhere on my cards, but lo and behold, Valentine's Day is right around the corner and out came those "dreaded red" copics! I say "dreaded" because if you have ever smeared them or tried to get the smudges that fall outside the lines back inside the lines, you know what a pain it can be. In those cases, however, I use a Sharpie Fine Point White water based (not poster paint) marker or a Ranger Opaque Pen and gently cover over those little lines or areas outside the lines.

For my card, I selected an older Saturated Canary rubber stamp that Tab has in stock at the 7 Kids store that is just perfect for Valentine's Day. It is "Valentine Petals". It comes with three sentiments too!  I chose the sentiment about being a sucker for all things sentimental because that is so me!
The image is colored with copic markers. These days, I find myself trying to color between puppy naps and potty trips outside (no not me, the puppy-lol), so my coloring seems to be suffering a bit! No worries, I must say I learn something every time I color an image and this was no exception!
The design paper is new from My Minds Eye- "Heirloom Lost and Found"- such a great 6x6 pad for Valentines Day! I used one layer as I did not want to cover up those adorable hearts. I did punch one out and pop dotted it in the upper left corner.  The image is cut using Spellbinder Ovals and Spellbinder Grand Scallop Ovals.  I distressed the edges with Victorian Velvet Distress Inkpad.  Last the heart  pearls and flowers are from WOC and the heart patterned ribbon from my stash.

Why not stop by the 7 Kids Challenge Blog and take a look at what the Design Team created to inspire you!  We would love for you to join us for this challenge.  Remember, you can win a $20 Gift Certificate to 7 Kids College Fund store if you use a stamp that is sold in the store, and since Tab carries all your favorite stamps, that should be easy peasy. We look forward to seeing your creations for our Anything Goes Challenge.  Have a great day!

May This Be the Grandest Year Yet- 7 Kids College Fund Anything Goes Challenge

Happy New Year!  This should be my second post today... Lucky me to have the opportunity to be first to wish everyone the best of health, happiness and creativity for the New Year!  If you are like me, you are probably ready to crash right now from all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.  I loved spending time with family and friends but I am ready for some down time right about now, so this will be a short post!
Today begins another great "Anything Goes" challenge at 7 Kids College Fund.  The design team, however, thought it would be fun to add a "white on white" twist to their inspiration cards! Seems most of us could not resist adding some color!  I did create another Pinterest board for "white on white" cards HERE so if you are inclined to play along or experiment with that theme, you will certainly find inspiration there.
For my card, I moved away from 6" square card and started with a 5x7 base card. From there I let the dies do the work!
I matted the base with white cardstock and some pretty blue snowflake dp from an old Die Cuts With a View paper pad.  Then I layered Spellbinders Resplendant Rectangles, Floral Ovals and Labels 7 dies on top.  I always wanted to use the Labels 7 to make a little book and on it I stamped a sentiment that I thought was perfect for my New Year wishes to all. All the dies are available at 7 Kids College Fund store (see links below).
The flowers are from Prima and the pearl flourishes are from Recollections. The shabby seam binding ribbon is among my favorite embellies from Live and Love Crafts.  I sprinkled some Glamour Dust and added some Diamond Stickles on the flowers and Close to My Heart Sentiment.  Behind it, I stamped some script with Stormy Sky ink.  Last, all edges are distressed with Stormy Sky distress ink pad and blending tool.

I hope to have inspired you to join us for our "Anything Goes" challenge. Remember the winner of the $20 Gift Certificate must use a stamp from the store but all are welcomed to enter for our Top 3 awards!
That's all for today. Once again, thank you so much for supporting my blog and taking the time to leave comments or just to say hello.  I look forward to another year of fun, friendship and inspiration!  Have a great day.

For my card, I chose "Emma" by Saturated Canary. Isn't she beautiful?  What fun to color, especially that beautiful hair.. oh how I wish I had it!
"Emma" is colored with Copic and Touch Twin markers. The design paper is from Maja and the flowers, metal corner, wide lace and pearl lace is from Live and Love Crafts.  The die cut behind the image is a Framelits oval die by Sizzix.  Last, the sentiment is from "Pink by Design".  It is attached with a Tim Holtz Memo Pin (love these). All edges of the dp and image are distressed with walnut stain and stormy sky distress ink.  Here is a another view:
